内容简介:The need to decarbonise our lifestyles to limit global warming to 1.5°C is now widely recognised, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group III report "Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change" released in April 2022, demand-side mitigation through changes in consumption can lead to 40-70% reductions in GHG emissions (IPCC, 2022). Since 2019, IGES has worked with local governments, citizens and businesses to analyse the citizens' carbon footprints in cities and communities, identify the opportunities for changing citizens’ lifestyles, and utilise the insights to develop collective visions and action plans to shape alternative socioeconomic systems that enable decarbonised living. The lecture highlights the main findings and lessons learned from the local-level discussions and actions on decarbonised societies and lifestyles based on the experiences in Japan.
